Ultiduo matches consist of exactly two players per side: one Medic and one partner class. The partner's class is open during the pick phase - Scout, Soldier, Demoman, Heavy, Pyro, Engineer, Sniper, or Spy are all legal. The only hard requirement is that one slot is always a Medic.
Both Medics spawn with a fully-charged Uber at the start of every round. This is the defining rule of Ultiduo - it removes the slow build-up of standard 6v6 and forces the match into an immediate, mechanical, positioning-driven duel.
Ultiduo uses a KOTH (King of the Hill)-onlymap pool. KOTH's tight, single-point fights reward the duo coordination that Ultiduo is built around: Uber tracking, partner positioning, and the push-and-pop dance. Pool rotates weekly.
Each Ultiduo map finishes in under 5 minutes. A Best-of-3 (BO3) match timeline tops out around 15 minutes from ready-up to result. Ideal for a quick ranked session, an evening warm-up, or the first competitive format a new player tries.
Ultiduo's peak queue window is 8 PM to midnight ET. Most ranked matches land in this window - solo-queue average wait time is under 4 minutes during peak, with team-queue near instant.
Solo queue average wait during peak hours is roughly 4 minutes. Off-peak (early morning, weekday matinees) may stretch to 8-12 minutes. Team queue (you bring a partner) is near-instant any time the lobby is alive.

Every Ultiduo match feeds an ELO ladderon the TFCL Play profile. The ladder resets each season; top-100 players are featured on the TFCL Play leaderboard.
The Medic slot is required. Spawning with a full Uber charge, the Medic dictates fight tempo: when to push, when to pop, and when to bait out an opposing Uber. The two Medics shape every Ultiduo round's geometry.
Soldier is the most-picked Ultiduo partner - the freedom of rocket jumps plus direct damage output synergies with the Uber window's burst timing. Heavy and Demoman round out the meta-feel trio at the high ranks.
Beyond Soldier / Demo / Heavy, all 8 partner classes are legal: Scout, Pyro,Engineer, Sniper, andSpy. Off-meta picks routinely show up at the top of the ladder - the format rewards experimentation as much as fundamentals.
Ultiduo is open year-round. Solo queue, bring your own duo, or pair up with a Charity partner - pick your partner class, lock in your Medic, and the matchmaking system drops you into a live competitive lobby.
